This week, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) approved the award of a 50-year contract for the ownership, operation and maintenance of the natural gas distribution system at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio (Vectren). Vectren participated in a competitive acquisition process, which began in 2013, and was notified in Oct. of 2017 of its selection. The terms of the 50-year contract will begin in 2019 and will end Dec. 31, 2068.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is located northeast of Dayton, Ohio, and encompasses parts of Greene and Montgomery counties. With over 27,000 employees, including military, civilian and contractors, Wright-Patterson is the largest single-site employer in the state of Ohio with an economic impact of more than $4.2 billion per year. The base covers more than 8,000 acres of land and provides operational support for more than 100 associate units located on the base. There are two runways, supporting various Department of Defense aircraft operations every year from around the world.
Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio delivers natural gas to approximately 315,000 customers in all or portions of Auglaize, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Fayette, Greene, Highland, Logan, Madison, Miami, Montgomery, Pickaway, Preble, Shelby and Warren counties.
