Public Health departments team up to offer COVID-19 testing event
GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF) -- Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County and Greene County Public Health are teaming up to offer a COVID-19 testing event next week. The drive-thru testing event is from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Wright State University's Ervin J. Nutter Center, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn.

HOSTERT, James Ralph Loving husband, father, and brother passed suddenly at home in the presence of his wife of fifty years, Frances Ann Kokochak on January 15, 2022, in Aurora, Colorado, a few days after back surgery.Jim, the son of John and Adelina (Opipari) Hostert was born on February 17, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. No matter where Jim was living during his lifetime, Pittsburgh was always home. He was an avid sports fan and always remained loyal to the Pirates and Steelers.Jim was a graduate of Dormont High School and Duquesne University. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. In 1970 he moved to Fairborn, Ohio, to work as a civil servant at the United States Air Force Logistics Command and Air Force Security Assistance Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He retired in 1998 having served in the capacity of a computer programmer, computer analyst, and database administrator. When their only child, Jennifer Rae, moved to Denver, Colorado, in 2011, Jim and Frances followed her a year later and moved to Aurora. His family was the most important thing to him. Jim's favorite past times were following his Pittsburgh sports teams, playing bridge, and participating in fantasy baseball and football. His favorite form of music was Rock and Roll. Summer vacation locations were usually decided by traveling to cities where the Pittsburgh Pirates were playing. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife, daughter Jennifer (Juan Carlos) Miranda, and only sibling John (Judy) Hostert of Pittsburgh.For service announcements or to leave a memorial message on his Tribute Wall, visit www.horancares.com.

BANKS, Judith Gay "Judy"81, of Fairborn, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born April 1st, 1940, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of John S. and Lucille (Drum) Bryan. Judy was an avid knitter and was a member of the Dayton Knitting Guild. Judy and her husband enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds. She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill Banks; two daughters: Becky (Joel) McPherson and Laura (Tammy Clark) Banks; grandchildren: Andrew and Grace McPherson; siblings: Vicki McClurkin and John T. (Linda) Bryan and many nieces and nephews. Judy is preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Phil McClurkin. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 29th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at LITTLETON & RUE Funeral Home, 830 N. Limestone St., Springfield. Online expression of sympathy may be made at www.littletonandrue.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Dayton or Pink Ribbon Girls.
